Identify the Exact Color from Any Photo

Point at any photo — or take one with your camera — and tap any color you want to identify. Color Identifier App returns the color name, hex code, RGB values, and nearest paint brand match instantly.

Import a photo and tap to identify

Open the app, import a photo from your camera roll or take a new one, then tap anywhere on the image to identify that color. The app samples the pixel cluster around your tap point and returns the full color profile: official color name, hex code (#A3C4BC), RGB (163, 196, 188), HSL, and CMYK values.

You can tap multiple points in the same photo — each identified color is added to a palette at the bottom of the screen, building a complete color story from the image.

Where color names come from

The app draws color names from a curated database of thousands of named colors — not just generic descriptors like "blue" or "green," but specific names like "Dusty Teal" or "Warm Champagne." When a tapped color closely matches a known named color, the app returns that name; for colors between named anchors, it returns the nearest named color with its distance.

Named colors come from a combination of paint brand databases, CSS color names, Pantone references, and a curated library of descriptive color names used in design and fashion.

From photo color to paint match

For every identified color, the app shows the nearest matching paint colors from Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, Behr, Valspar, and other brands. This turns any photo into a paint purchasing guide — identify the color you love in an inspiration image and immediately see which paint product you need to buy.

Paint matches are ranked by color distance (delta E), so the closest match appears first. Tap any match to see the full product details and brand information.

Saving and exporting identified colors

Every color you identify is saved to your color history. Organize identified colors into named palettes — "Kitchen Renovation," "Client Project A" — and export palettes as PDF swatch sheets or share individual hex codes via Messages or email.

The history is searchable by color name and sortable by date or color family, making it easy to find a color you identified weeks ago without scrolling through everything.
